Non-communicable disease (NCD) screening services will soon be available at the village level through community health workers, following the launch of the Expanded Healthy Heart Africa Phase II project by Rwanda Biomedical Centre (RBC) in partnership with PATH and AstraZeneca. Piloted at Kabarore Health Centre in Gatsibo District—one of three districts selected for the initial phase—the initiative aims to strengthen NCD management by training community health workers to conduct screenings, support diagnosis, and follow up with patients directly in their communities. This effort reflects Rwanda’s commitment to expanding access to essential NCD services and bringing care closer to where people live.
