The Our Views, Our Voices initiative promotes the meaningful involvement of people living with Non-Communicable Diseases in the NCD response by supporting and enabling individuals to share their views to take action and drive change.
Under the support of NCD Alliance, from April to December 2021, Rwanda NCD Alliance is conducting a series of community conversations and consultative meetings with people living with a diverse range of NCDs and their care partners in order to gather insights on their needs and critical challenges, priority asks and understanding their views on being meaningfully involved in NCD responses as primary beneficiaries and those with first-hand experiences. This initiative aims to produce and launch the National Advocacy Agenda of People Living with NCDs.
As part of the same opportunity, we also conducted consultative meetings with different NCDs stakeholders and groups of people living with NCDs to inform the Global Charter on meaningful involvement of people living with NDs in the NCD response, committing to put people first, mainstream, and embed involvement in organizational practices, recognizing the value and contribution of the lived experience and strategies to implement it.
The national advocacy agenda of people living with NCDs will organize recommendations under the same pillars as for the global advocacy agenda: prevention; treatment, care, and support; human rights and social justice; meaningful involvement.
